Doctor of Philosophy (Ph.D.) in Mechanical Engineering
Indian Institute of Technology Guwahati (IIT Guwahati), India | 2022 – Present
Specialization: Fluid and Thermal Engineering
Affiliation: Miniature Thermal Systems Research Lab
Research Focus: Experimental hydrodynamics and thermal modeling of passive two-phase heat transfer devices (Loop Heat Pipes, Pulsating Heat Pipes, and Grooved Heat Pipes).
Doctoral Research Focus:
Loop Heat Pipes (LHPs) & Miniature LHPs: Design, integration, and thermal characterization of flat-evaporator LHP architectures targeting high-heat-flux dissipation in aerospace payloads and electronics cooling.
Fabrication of Sintered Biporous Wicks: Development of dual-pore network nickel wicks using sacrificial pore-forming techniques and controlled-atmosphere powder metallurgy. The dual microstructure balances high capillary pumping pressure in the micropores with low vapor hydraulic resistance through the macropores, substantially delaying boiling incipience and raising the Critical Heat Flux (CHF).
Two-Phase Flow Visualization: In-situ optical diagnostics and high-speed flow regime imaging to capture transient phase-change mechanisms, meniscus recession, startup dynamics, and liquid-vapor interface behavior under variable thermal loads and gravitational orientations.
Lumped Parameter Network Modeling (LPNM): Formulation and development of steady-state and transient 1D Lumped Parameter Network Models implemented in GNU Octave and MATLAB. The framework accounts for evaporator-to-compensation chamber heat leaks, pressure drops across two-phase transport lines, and subcooling dynamics to predict operational thresholds and thermal resistance.
Key Laboratory & Computational Methodologies:
Experimental Rig Engineering: Evacuation, outgassing, precision micro-charging, and thermal testing under variable tilt and power increments.
Numerical & Data Tools: GNU Octave, MATLAB, ANSYS Fluent, Python (NumPy/SciPy), and high-frequency National Instruments DAQ systems
